Collage Unleashed Artist Trading Cards Have Arrived!

I was so excited when I arrived home today after work to find the artist trading cards waiting for me in my mailbox! There’s something so special about receiving a piece of art work from someone you have never meant before and a different kind of connection is made with that person that isn’t influenced by looks/status/ethnicity/etc. The first card that I pulled out of the envelope is entitled “Peace” by Sarah Watson. This card immediately  made me smile, because as I drove home I was thinking about how chaotic  my life has been these past two weeks and how much I just want some piece and quiet. The colors of blue are so calming and the world is made into a heart shape. This card reminds me to breathe and appreciate life. The next card titled “Hard Days Night #3″ immediately made me sing the Beatles song even before I saw the pictures on the card. I love all the texture on this card with the different types of paper and the colors that seem to represent both night and day. The card titled “Circle of Life” by Bev Therkelsen is gorgeous. I love the image of the backless white dress with a different head image on it. The woman is facing beautiful white flower and the overall feel just reminds me of one’s wedding day. Last, but not least is the card titled “Collage Unleashed” by Melanie Glassey who was the organizer for this artist trading card swap. The card has so many different colors, layers, and textures. It reminds me of celebrating life and being “unleashed” into doing what I want to do and being who I want to be. I’m so sad that this swap is over and I’ve enjoyed having a connect with other therapist/counselors/community members who use different art forms in their work and personal lives. Hopefully there will be another swap of this kind or something new!

@shaylafish and Rachel: The swap was through the Art Therapy Alliance sub group “Materials and Media” on Linkedin. There is also an Art Therapy Alliance Face book page. I had never done them before this!
